Winter break

I have spent the past three days not leaving my apartment, eating pasta, not showering, and watching movies.

I've watched:

The Holiday (I love that movie)
Alfie (remake with jude law, so awful)
Marie Antoinette (i really hate this movie, but the costuming is so pretty)
Becoming Jane (whenever i watch an Anne Hathaway movie I just look at her mouth it is so distracting, also seriously depressing movie)
Penelope (loved it)
Two Lovers (depressing, made me feel super uncomfortable)
Camille (i don't even know what to say)
The Clique (don't judge me)
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist (they go near my apartment, thought that was funny. I didn't like the character Norah at all she was really bratty/abrasive/not charming)
Made of Honor (actually SO awful but I need to go to Scotland ASAP)
Confessions of a Shopaholic (don't judge me)
Say Anything (caitlin hadn't seen it yet! still great)

Tomorrow I actually get up and shower and do some Christmas shopping!

Thursday night was spent at Kaz's house with Track F and A, and then making Oreo Truffles and pumpkin pancakes until 4 am with Hayden. Friday was my last day of classes. We had a potluck/final critque in my freshman seminar class. It was amazing and I will miss Track A terribly. Amanda came over for the weekend, we went to Germs Friday night...it was fun! I got some hilarious photos I can't wait to put up.

Also decided I am going on a road trip to New Orleans in January. Should be fun!

Forgot to study for my art history final (whatever don't care) last night and wrote what I believe to be my best paper to date.

Today will be busy. Last class of CRW1, art history final, pressing my 20 prints, going to Kaz's for an end of the semester soiree, then back to my apt with Hayden for baking time/sleepover.

Tomorrow is the last day of freshman seminar! :'-(

Okay so!
Final crit in design today was great. Delicious food was eaten, amazing projects were shown, etc. I scanned stuff until 11. Got home at 11:30

This is where it started to go downhill...

Caitlin found a bug in her room (again). She squished it and was freaking out so we threw it in a plastic bag and then ran outside to throw it in the trash. As we were doing this we forgot to get keys and the door of our apartment slammed shut behind us. Awesome. We tried to pick the lock with a bobby pin but it didn't work.

As we were laughing/crying over the situation our neighbor asked us if we wanted to use his phone, try getting in through the back door from the backyard, etc. None of this worked. My dad has the only other pair of keys so I had to call him to ask him to come bring them (he only lives about 45 minutes away but I felt so bad it was like midnight). Anyway he said he would come (obviously) and our neighbor, Morgan, said we were more than welcome to hang out in his apartment until he got there.

Within the first 10 minutes I found out

Was found after a day! I sleep right where he died.

But you know what is the funniest out of all of this? I never get any weird vibes from my room, I've never felt creeped out in there...so I don't really mind. I mean there is nothing weird ever and I feel safe always so I'm not bothered by this fact. I just can't believe it! I'm pretty sure the landlords never told us this. I recall being told the guy had a stroke and then died in the hospital. Pretty sure that is illegal to lie about that, but whatever...

Anyway we made Morgan watch the food network with us for about three hours, which I'm sure was awful but it meant a lot that he would deal with our company for a few hours.

It took my dad extra long to get to the apartment because halfway there, he realized he had taken the wrong keys and had to drive all the way back. Oh, dad!

I was going to go to bed early, wake up early to work on Christmas presents for everyone...but now I am going to skip that because it is 3:30 am and I am still hungry because I did not eat dinner like I had planned to at 11:30. Alright peace.

Mostly inspired by The OC because I happened to be watching it at the time. Can't wait to explain my shallow-inspired collages to my class that no doubt have ridiculous meanings behind their final projects.

Went to Asbury Park for the first time yesterday with Caitlin. Met up with Zoie, watched them set up for the Bruce shoot, got coffee, talked a lot.

Meg had a christmas party. It was probably one of the funniest nights of my life. Did not get to bed until 5 am due to people walking into our bedroom ever 5 seconds/screaming/doors slamming/bugs crawling out of the ceiling. Loved every second of it!

Can't wait to get the photos from last night developed.
Spent most of today napping now I have to finish my design final and bake cookies for my class.

Friday night stopped by Emma's new apartment in Bushwick which is totally cute. Caitlin and I got to see our the creepy farm-twin photos Emma took of us...amazing! Wish we could have stayed longer but we had to catch a train to Jersey pretty early the next morning :(

I don't really know how I am feeling lately. I feel really good then something will trigger this really powerful feeling that I'm doing something wrong or not doing enough.

Finals are coming up, my prints that I leave on the drying rack for not long at all keep disappearing and I don't know why but I'm pretty livid because I don't spend 7+ hours in there to have all my shit go missing.

Had a good past couple of days despite the fact I feel like I'm getting pretty sick. Picking some film up tomorrow that I'm excited about. I can't wait for break so I can just shoot and not write research papers on the development of the female figure in greek and roman art...which I still haven't started and it's due on Thursday. Obviously my priorities are in order!

-p4k/showpaper benefit @ market hotel w/ Real Estate (always good), Cold Cave (who sucked), Delorean, and Cymbals Eat Guitars (yes, twice in one day)
-An awesome show at Above the Auto Parts Store w/ Surfer Blood, Sisters, Screaming Females and JEFF the Brotherhood. No one bled from their head this week but Lightning Bolt is there on Friday and that may be a totally different story...

My heart goes out to you and your family and especially Caitlin. Thank you so much for all you did for me this past month...as many times as I thanked you it will never be enough or express how much it means to me.

I didn't know you very well but I know that you made my best friend happy. You honestly changed her life for the better in so many ways you wouldn't even be able to imagine.

I loved hearing about all the funny things you did, reading all your fragment sentenced texts or your "taking a photo" face. I'm honestly in shock right now and don't know what to do or say.

All I can hope is that your family, bruce and the band, the crew, zoie, and everyone else you knew are doing okay. Seriously thank you so much for everything you didn't have to do but did for me. Thank you for being there for Caitlin. thankyouthankyouthankyou

Past week has been good. Went to Philly for the first time to see Bruce Springsteen. Our bus driver's name was Wogget.
Had serious awkward moments with the Big Man, drank way too much coffee, wrote my art history paper on the bus ride home.

Owen had Oompa Loompas serving cake at his birthday. Never thought I'd be able to say I was served cake by an oompa loompa but clearly anything is possible.

Realized how much work I have to do, want to throw my body out of a window.

Yesterday Emma took photoz of me and Caitlin looking creepy but the photos will no doubt be awesome.

It has been Styrofoam snowing in my neighborhood because of construction.

Saw No Age last night, it was awesome. Soft Circle are so good too. Alison got her head kicked and had blood everywhere...pretty ROCKNROLLLLL if you ask me (ah ha ha...). BV's internet is currently on the fritz so the photos haven't gone up yet but hopefully soon!

Caitlin brought me to Bruce Springsteen again tonight at Giant's Stadium (last show there evaaaar, because they are tearing it down with a "wrecking ball").

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NIGHT/MY LIFE
(que the serious name dropping, sorry...I know but ohmygod):
- Watched sound check from the stage
- Had a conversation with Bruce and Caitlin after sound check about random things + writing Darkness on the Edge of Town (like actually oh my god)
- Got a kiss on the cheek from Bruce (OH MY GOD)
- Delicious food at catering (best cheesecake of my life)
- Drinking the most coffee I have ever had in my life (I do not drink coffee)
- Getting one cup of coffee next to Chris Martin (don't hate, you know you like Coldplay too)
- Dancing next to Matt Damon
- Seeing Tom Colicchio
- "Wrecking Ball" still being the best song Bruce has written in forever
- Seeing Clarence ride up to the stage in the "Temple of Soul TO GO!" golf cart

Bruce Springsteen is the nicest man in the world and I can't wait for the Philly show + MSG + Baltimore!

CAITLIN WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH IT MEANS TO ME BRINGING ME TO THESE SHOWS, THNX GURL LOVE U <3 (No but seriously, I had been in such a weird, awful mood this past month and going to these shows has honestly made me so happy).

- More specifically processing my film from the Bruce show (used my new Black Slim Devil camera) and printing the shots from the Wavves/Beach Fossils/Ganglians show
- Having money to buy studs so I can stud everything I own

Not excited for:
- Writing 3 mini-papers

There is a reason they call him that and I just figured it out tonight!
Caitlin brought me to my first Bruce Springsteen show tonight at Giant's Stadium.
We took the train out to the Meadowlands and met up with Caitlin's cousin. He got me a backstage pass which was SO awesome and really great of him (I literally had the best time tonight). Caitlin gave me the grand tour and we visited Cindy from the E Street Band in her dressing room while she was getting ready for the show. Caitlin gave her some shirts she made for her and she loved them (NO BIG DEAL). She is hilarious and I'm going to wear my matching shirt next time I go to the show. She complimented my hair too? Hahha...

Anywho then we went over to catering and had some of the best cheese cake we've ever had...then explored backstage, around the stage, sides of the stage...etc. Actually some of the most amazing stuff I have ever seen. There were so many people there!

The show was probably the best concert I have ever been to, which is saying something. Three hours non stop! And I didn't get sick of it once...(which is pretty rare, I usually get sick of a show and wish for it to be over towards the middle of it). Bruce played all of Darkness on the Edge of Town + a million other things. Also did a cover of Jailhouse Rock. Sounded pretty good for it being unrehearsed!

My favorite of the night was Prove It All Night. It sounded amazing...and so did Rosalita obvyyyyy! They had fireworks and everything. Ugh love it.

Jeremy Piven was leaving the bathroom as we were going towards it and he was zippering his pants and made a face at us like, "THAT BATHROOM IS AWFUL." Later we saw him in the crowd and watched people take stalker photos of him. Then when we were getting ready to leave he was dancing by himself, pelvic thrusting. He pelvic thrusted in my face. NIIIIIIICE HIGHHHLIGHT OF DA NITEEE~*~

As we were leaving Bruce saw Caitlin and called her out and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Um ridiculous much?! All the super fans were jealous. I got a wave from him because well, uh he doesn't know me and that would just be weird.

Seriously I am ready to see him a million more times after tonight. Officially converted. THANKS, CAITLIN!

The only thing I was sad about was that he did not play "Cover Me"

Friday I saw Wavves with Ganglians and Beach Fossils at Market Hotel. It was a great show. Almost died, but then again...it wouldn't be a show at Market Hotel if my life wasn't threatened in at least one way.

Around 4 am while I was sitting in bed editing photos, twitter exploded with talks of a fight between Jared from Black Lips and Nathan from Wavves at Daddy's. Daddy's sounded really familiar and then I remembered OH HAYYY that's the bar like two doors away from my apartment. Cool story.

Yesterday I met up with Grace and Hillary. We had lunch and caught up on various crazy college stories (well, their crazy college stories...I haven't had that much of an exciting life lately). We went over to Grace's apartment, which BTW is a penthouse apartment (she failed to mention that to Hillary and me and then we got into the elevator and she pressed the "PH" button, Hillary and I exchanged very impressed facial expressions). The apartment was beautiful and we sat out on the terrace and it was really so amazing. The view is beautiful. East River to your right, all of New York to your left. The kitchen was made entirely out of mirrors and Hillary and I felt compelled to have a photo shoot...so we did. They went back to Tuxedo and I met up with Caitlin and Misty for Misty's birthday dinner. It was really nice!

Spent all of today watching The OC. Like actually all day...whatever, I'm not ashamed. Maybe a little bit? ...hmm nope.

Tomorrow I am waiting for a package until 2 and then probably watching The OC all day...again. This is going to be a very wordy entry (as if you haven't already noticed that...), I'm on a roll tonight. I just wrote the longest email of my life to someone that asked me about the pros/cons of concert photography. I had too much to say, couldn't contain MY PASSSSSIIIIOOOON! It all spilled out.

Also: It's funny. I feel super disconnected from anyone and everyone because I didn't dorm. I mean, I do not in any way regret getting an apartment. I am ultimately happier and I know I would probably be (for the most part) miserable dorming. But I can't help but feel of secluded from any/every social activity that involves my peers. I guess I'm feeling a little lonely and shacking myself up in my apartment to watch The OC all day probably isn't helping but whatever. I suppose I'm in a rut, I'll eventually get over it. Also kinda feeling totally uninspired lately but that's just because of me being antisocial. Also, I miss my friends that went away to college. I miss having a group of good friends. I feel like a lot of my old friends don't even like me anymore and I feel like they're happy they finally got rid of me or something. GOD WHY AM I BEING SO DEPRESSING.

Anywaaaay...it's actually like 5 am now and I should probably get ready to go to bed even though I am past the point of feeling tired at this point.

Had a good day today. Melinda cut my hair, we reminisced on being scene kids that lived at the mall and then saw Blade Runner (oh my god what the hell so fucked up but so good) at the SVA theatre (Parsons should have their own movie theatre? that would be nice).

I have to wake up for class in about four hours (fml), Wavves at Market Hotel later today, Misty's birthday party on Saturday and then probably seeing A Clockwork Orange at the sunshine at Midnight with people. Good timez.

There are times when I start to feel like going to shows has become a chore. I never want to go and I'm just like not excited, at all. Then I go to a show like one tonight and I'm reminded of why I love going to shows so much.

For Line to Pixel on Monday we had to channel our inner Fred Sandback and create a yarn sculpture in Washington Square Park.
The first time I saw a Fred Sandback piece was when I went to the Dia:Beacon last year for a senior enrichment trip. All I can really say about the Dia is that I hate it. I hate it a lot. It's so pretentious it makes me cringe. Not only that but the people that work there are rude as HELL and think they are really important because they can talk about a piece of yarn like it's symbolic of something so much deeper than it's appearance.

No.

I really dislike Fred Sandback. I think his work is really, really stupid. I am not a fan of art like this. I don't consider hanging a piece of yarn from the ceiling to the ground a piece of "art." I feel like there needs to be some sort of artistic ability, some sort of skill used. Another thing about art for me, is that it needs to be visually appealing. Art stripped down to its most basic component: its appearance. It needs to catch my eye. Before I can consider its meaning or what it symbolizes, I need to care, and to care I have to be drawn to it.

I think what bothers me the most about "art" such as Fred Sandback's yarn sculptures is the fact that there are people out there who are incredibly talented that aren't getting any deserved attention while this asshole is getting millions of dollars for his fucking string. NOT OKAY.

I will give the Dia some credit though: when I went they had these really awesome sculptures of spiders that were HUGE. I forget the artist's name but it was a woman. I feel like her name started with an L but I totally forget. There was also a huge hedge made out of metal that was really gorgeous. But that's all I can remember liking. Everything else was just ridiculous (and in a bad way.) Which reminds me that I need to find a welding class and soon because I REALLY want to learn how to weld.

Anywho, end to my rant.

We had to make our own yarn sculptures. It was fun. We got some stares, but obviously for good reason...
Also got yelled at by some crazy woman who told me I reminded me of her grandmother and then proceeded to ask us if Melody, Karina and I worked for the C.I.A? Yeah, that makes perfect logical sense.

Went back to Tuxedo today for Stelle's birthday. Went out to dinner with the family and watched TV with Stelle all night. She is now asleep but I keep watching "The Secret Lives of Women." So I turned 18 on Friday! This birthday isn't really a milestone in my life like it is for people, there's nothing I really wanted to do but had to be 18 to do it. I mean, I guess other than going to 18+ shows but I solved that predicament awhile ago. I could buy cigarettes, but I don't smoke. I could go to a strip club, but I'm not currently in the mood for that. I could buy a machete? Just in case there is a zombie attack on the world that might be helpful but I don't know if I'd go with a machete. I could gamble? But I don't really have that much money to even gamble with (plus it doesn't look very fun and I'm not the luckiest person in the world).

For my birthday Hayden bought me a Crumbs cupcake after class, which was so sweet (and the cupcake was too)! Then I went out to dinner at Bubby's. We got peanut butter mousse pie or something and it was AMAZING. Caitlin, James and I did some photoboothin'

After that we walked around for an hour or two. We went to go to this coffee shop that Caitlin went to a few months ago but it was closed so we went to this other cafe that looked super cute and was 24 hours. Then lo-and-behold we saw this guy Ryan who helped work the Venexiana show working there! Small world! I had delicious lemonade. James had to leave but Caitlin and I continued to walk around and ran into Emma. I bought Freaks&Geeks on DVD because Caitlin needs to see it and then we ran into this girl that works on the bakery down the block from us on the train.

Fun stuff. Now I have to go buy a spool of yarn for class. We are going to Washington Square Park to play with yarn. pSyCheD* (love art school)

- I love my freshman seminar teacher, he is awesome and an amazing photographer!
- I got a new camera today since my Nikon F is broken (so sad, but we go on...)
- Venexiana fittings/castings tomorrow!
- Fashion Week coming up
- Venexiana after party is at Kiss&Fly (SO HILARIOUS I LOVE IT)
- Parents possibly bringing food/antibiotics/etc.

Not so exciting things:
- Getting sick again. Feels like the beginning of my asthmatic bronchitis I had earlier this year. please God, do not let me get that again.
- So much supply shopping/homework to do and not enough time.
- Having to live off of Airbourne and Emergen-c for the next week.
- Not having any clothes I want to wear for the Venexiana show or anything else :(
- L Magazine throwing away one of my LARGE PRINTS. WHAT THE FUCK.

Second day of classes was today! I had Drawing 1 from 3 - 5:40 pm. On my way to school Cole (I think?) from NYC Prep bumped into me and knocked my shit all over the ground. I don't think he noticed what he did. It sucked.

Got up to the 4th floor in the building and could not find my classroom. I walk around for a few minutes, come up to a huge maze of little studios, a metal shop, a wood shop, etc. But not room 401? I give up and go back to the elevator and it opens up to kids that are in my class. I tell them I can't find the classroom. We look again, still no luck. MAYBE we think, Room 401 is actually on the 3rd or 4th floor? Along the way we meet other students confused with where the hell Room 401 is. At this point I'm wondering if Room 401 even exists. We asked like 5 different people and none of them knew what we were talking about. Finally we found it (it was hidden behind the metal shop in a corner. How convenient!).

I like my drawing teacher. I can't figure him out really but I'm pretty sure I like him. He seems like an interesting guy and I googled him last night (yeah I'm a creep, I don't care) and I liked his work that popped up. The only thing I did not like was drawing the same bottle for 3 hours straight. How many times could I draw it incorrectly in 3 hours? About 30.

Tomorrow is my day off. Caitlin and I are getting breakfast at the Blue Stove (because it just re-opened!) and then seeing Inglorious Basterds with Jonathan later. Then I'm shooting The So So Glos/Titus Andronicus tour kick off show at Monster Island. Should be a fun day.

Had my first class today: From Line to Pixel. I had no idea what the hell that even meant but it's like a mixed media computer class. It's 6 hours long (um lol) but our teacher let us out early today. Basically she shunned the use of iPhoto and that is all I ever use (I know...I know...) so I need to work on that. The supply list is going to kill me but whatever (although one of the supplies needed was a spool of yarn. um, what?).

I wish BlackBoard listed the kids in my class so I could be a super creep and facebook stalk all night since I don't have class until 3 pm tomorrow (AGAIN). I don't really like having class at 3 because I wait all day for class. Today I just sat on the computer for like, 4 hours (not like I don't do that already anyway) but still. Caitlin got back from her first class and left for work even before I left for MY first class.

I have drawing tomorrow which should be interesting since I can't draw.

My mom called me last night to tell me that our cat, Skittles, died yesterday. I am a little upset especially because he was still really young and seemed so healthy. It's just a surprise, I didn't expect him to die all of a sudden :(

He was a wonderful cat. Although I was often aggravated by him coming into my room late at night, meowing, and then proceeding to nuzzle into my armpit with his face/claws...it was very cute. He was also the softest cat there ever was, and he was gigantic.

I found him under a staircase at the country club in my town when he was just a baby. Some crazy lady tried to take him home but that didn't work out so well so I asked my mom if we could keep him. We brought him to the vet and got him checked out, shots, etc.

I named him Skittles because he was all black and I thought I was being cool and ironic.

So I guess we saved him from an early death when he was a starving kitten under the staircase, and I hope he lived a happy life.

First my puppy Cutie (yes, Cutie) died last year, and now Skittles. Juilzy is the last one standing PLEASE DON'T TAKE HER <333

I saw Blondie and Pat Benatar today in Coney Island. Debbie Harry is still a badass and I love her, I ran into too many people I knew, and everyone in fucking Coney Island needs an attitude adjustment.

Every person there thought they owned a piece of the land and if you stepped on their territory they acted like you seriously offended them. Everyone had no IQ and probably dropped out of school in the 5th grade. I had an 80 year old woman almost smack me in the face because I was standing and she could not see from her fucking lawn chair. Bitch please, it's a concert. If you can't deal with people standing up then watch it from your nursing home's balcony. Plus, do you even know who you are watching? Probably not. Do you even know you are at a concert? Probably not. I didn't get the memo that this was a BRING YOUR LAWN CHAIR AND ACT LIKE A BITCH concert. Next time I will be more prepared.

You would step on someone's blanket and they would yell, you would stand and you would be bitched at by 40 different people. After one old woman told us to "SIT DOWN OR MOVE" maybe 50 times, we left because I hate being yelled at by large groups of people. As we were leaving, some asshole started applauding and everyone followed.

Some foreign guy came up to us during the show and screamed "WHAT IS THIS? A FUCKING PICNIC CONCERT? NO!" and pranced away. We met completely wasted guys who worked at Marc Jacobs. One put me on TEAM PARSONS with him and made me spin dance with him. So awkward, but hilarious. I am so sore and so over having to deal with rude people. Never again will I go to a free show in Coney Island. NEVER EVER! (okay that's probz a lie but w/e i'm being passionate)

In the end it was pretty funny but JESUS CHRIST. Okay I need to go to bed now.

Apartment Virtual Tour!

In case some of you (a lot of you? I don't even know, how many "you" even read this?) haven't been inside the apartment Caitlin and I share yet, I created a virtual tour because I am bored and have nothing better to do with my life.

First stop, Caitlin's room! It's in the front of the apartment. How exciting!

This is in my room. As you can see to the left there is an air conditioner, given to me by my old babysitter Kristen, who just got married (so congrats!). This thing has legit saved my life. To the right is my favorite drawing by my friend Tracey Alvarez. It's appropriately placed next to my shelf with all my cameras.
This is our kitchen-area. We have postcards from Sweden on the fridge (and not pictured but we also have a photo of Nikki as a child, naked playing with blocks and a random photo we found on Lorimer St), cow shaped salt & pepper shakers, and way too many cups.

These past few weeks have been totally ridiculous. I went to Maine with Tola, Henry, and Jack where we visited Kate and Oliver on Great Cranberry Isle. It's really beautiful there and the 9 hour drive there wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Jack and I broke up but we are on good terms so it's fine, we're alllllll fine.

Then the next week Amanda, Caitlin, and Aaron were going to Montreal and invited me along for the ride. I decided I'd go...because why the hell not it's not like I have anything else to do and I haven't been to Montreal since I was 13 so it would be nice. Even if it is only for a day...

We saw this band called The Veils, so good! I was blown away. I had never heard of them before the show, but Amanda is a pretty big fan so we went. It was great. We stayed at Aaron's house, he was looking after his friend's cats which are identical twin brothers and both named Henry who I was randomly allergic to? Montreal is beautiful and filled with gorgeous french speaking men, I want to go back asap.

I had Grace, Nikki and Houston over my apartment the other night, it was really fun. We went to Christian Joy's show on Ludlow and saw Moon afterwards. Interesting movie, I don't really know what to say other than it made me upset. My apartment is so god damn hot though, it's disgusting. Patrice is spending the week there as well so there were like 500 people in an already hot apartment. Didn't make for the best sleep but I am picking up an air conditioner tomorrow.

Tomorrow I leave for Maine for a few days. Tomorrow Hillary leaves for camp for two weeks. Yesterday, Grace got back from Spain. TONIGHT we are all together (minus Ian) for the first time in awhile.

The past few days have been good, relaxing, etc. I was supposed to be in Chicago but that got fucked up. Oh well.

BUT THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING HAPPENED. Houston and I were on the lake hanging out on the boat when we heard this huge CRACK and saw this giant blue explosion (a tree taking down multiple power lines) and then saw all of the lights in the park go out (that is a lot of electricity fyi). The first thing I thought was, "who on EARTH is setting off fireworks right now?" It was so bizarre, the tree literally fell out of no where. Also it was very strange seeing the park in complete darkness. We called the copz and they fixed it, the end!

I went sailing for the first time in years with Hillary the other day. It was so much fun! There was so much wind. I forgot how much fun sailing was. I think we are going to go again today since it's supposed to be nice out. I skippered for the first time in years and I wasn't so great at the beginning but I eventually got the hang of it. Also, rigging/de-rigging the boat started to make sense again.

Tonight will be fun and then tomorrow I drive for 12 hours with three boys in the back of the car. Wish me luck.

The most active I've ever been

Today Nikki, Houston and I decided to find Mountain Lake. It's this lake in Tuxedo Park/Tuxedo that I never knew existed until recently and we found it totally ridiculous that in all our years living in this town we never visited it. So, after lunch we set off on an adventure. We started to take a trail but then for some reason we decided to venture off that trail (which, would have ultimately led us to our destination a lot quicker/more safely) and make our own path.

We climbed mountains, ran into wildlife, and a few times contemplated if it was really worth all the struggle. Well, once we finally reached the top of the steepest cliff yet, we saw the light reflecting slightly off of...what?! is that water?! yes! yes it is!

It stopped there because there was really no defined shoreline so we kind of just sat for awhile and examined our wounds. On our way back, we got a little lost but found the original trail and got back to our cars.

I went into the pool for the first time in like, two years. Then, I was forced to swim 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle in a swim meet. I lost and I still have water in my ears but it was fun.

I then hung out with Nikki for awhile at his house. We watched his cousin's show and then went over to Houston's and played Mortal Kombat. As always, Ian was the Flash and used that one supermove constantly and won without any struggle.

We decided to go see Harry Potter 6 at midnight. It was fun, it was long...Hillary and I laughed the entire time. As we were all leaving this one kid dropped all of his Skittles and everyone stared at him, his family frozen in the act, and he goes, "Great! JUST GREAT!" Perfect ending. I got home around 3:45 am which is honestly so late. I should go to bed now.

I haven't updated lately because I have been having too much fun doing a whole lot of nothing much. Days are being spent in Tuxedo for the most part. Hanging out with "the crew." I had everyone up for the fireworks in Tuxedo and then we went to Peter Regna's house for his party. Ridiculous. Love it. Everyone came over after. Fun stuff.

Decided I am going back to Paris this winter if I can round up enough cash. I'm going to start selling prints of my photos so if anyone wants one...holla @ me.

Saw Titus Andronicus and Real Estate at The Whitney Museum today. So good. Why was I so lazy when it came to Real Estate? Seriously blown away! Those photos will be up on BV soon.

Moving day!

Yesterday was also a very good day. Went to Bently's with Ian, Grace, and Stelle. Then headed over to Houston's...then after that went to Ian's. Hillary called us and we got take out from Tuxedo Sushi and had dinner on her boat. So nice!

Then back to Ian's house where we all went in his sauna (haha) and then hung out on his amazon porch with giant pillars and vines everywhere. Love it. Made Ramen, talked, Hillary showed us how to Frollic, etc. Watched Madagascar 2 with Hillary, Ian, and Houston and by that time it was 5 am and I have never been so tired.

Woke up early today to pack. Got into Brooklyn around 4 and picked up the keys to my apartment. Moved a bunch of my stuff in and had my sister and dad help me clean for awhile. Jack and Tola came over and we explored the neighborhood. It is *so* hot in here I am legit dying. Back home tomorrow for a little bit.

I've had such a good past few days in Tuxedo. Of course, right before I move I start to appreciate it/like it/have a good time.

The other night I saw The Hangover (still funny the second time) with Grace, Ian, and Nikki. Then after we met up with Houston and went on his boat. It was so nice out! I love nights like that just talking until late with friends.

Yesterday I went to Sam's graduation party and saw some people I haven't seen in over two years like Mat Craig, Lior, Chelsea...it was so nice! There was also delicious food. After that I picked up Hillary, Ian, and Grace and met up with Nikki and Houston and had a little bonfire! It started to rain and there was a lack of marshmellows, but it was still a good time.

I was exhausted and passed out around 12. Started packing to move tomorrow! Got all my dishes and silverwear and other kitchen necessities. Eeeeek!

I HAVE GRADUATED!!

FINALLY! I AM DONE WITH HIGH SCHOOL FOREVER.
Graduation was held in the gym, which was awful because it was too damn hot. Hundreds of people in a small, non-air conditioned room in the middle of summer, wearing a gown and cap made especially for you to sweat? No thanks.

For about two and a half hours I had to sit in the most uncomfortable position of my life (my cap kept falling off so I had to lean forward a little and put my head/neck in a really awkward position) with the loudest clapper of all time clapping in my hear for every name called. Not only was the clapping making my ears bleed, but the airhorns going off didn't help so much either. The speakers were pretty boring, except for William, John, and Stephen.

I spent most of the ceremony watching some girl in the back taking MySpace photos of herself. I also watched my father fall asleep. We threw our caps in the air, party poppers went off, silly string went into hair...and it felt *so good*.

So glad to finally be out.

Patrick Wolf - NOT a diva

I saw Patrick Wolf for the first time (FINALLY. CHRIST.) the other day and ahhhhhhhhhh it was amazing! I love him. Love him!...but not as much as the people around me did. I always wonder why I get stuck next to the crazy super fans?

One guy I was talking to behind me in between set changes had a Patrick Wolf tattoo. He also liked Coheed and Cambria so I immediately was not so much a fan of him. Then, throughout the ENTIRE SHOW, he would try and HARMONIZE WITH PATRICK WOLF. Seriously? Shut up. He was singing SO loudly and in my ear. At times I couldn't even hear Patrick, all I could hear was this nasaly voice singing off key/the wrong words. God it was so awful.

When I could hear Patrick sing, it was bliss. He played about an hour and a half/two hour set. He called out some bitch in the audience that was talking loudly during a quiet song and told her to gtfo. So good. Also got angry at the sound guy and said that "I am not a diva, I just have standards." AMEN!

Maccabees tonight!

These past few days I've been hanging out in Tuxedo. Too tired to go into the city. Also, my knees have been really bugging me randomly and it's excruciatingly painful. I don't know why/how/etc. but they're feeling a little bit better today.

Caitlin, Pam, my mom and I went apartment hunting the other day. We found the perfect apartment! Going in today to sign the lease probably. It's adorable. It has a backyard and ahh I love it.

Yesterday Ian told Hillary and me about his European adventures...pretty interesting to say the least. Probably not a good idea to put it on the internet though.

Seeing The Maccabees tonight! Last time I saw them was two years ago! Their new album is great, really excited to see them again. They're playing at the Music Hall of Williamsburg (where Shoot to Thrill was). Miike Snow is opening I think...and The Hatchem Social?

Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was great on so many levels. Seriously, I had such a good time.

Henry was very surprised for his birthday picnic. He stated that he had "lost all hope" in his friends when they "forgot" his birthday. A ton of us spent the entire day in Prospect Park snacking on cakes, juice boxes, pita bread, and tortilla chips (and the boys played Magic all day...).

I have decided that I want to make this a summer of picnics, only this time I will use sunblock because I have the worst sunburn of my life + sun poisoning. It literally feels like someone is continually pouring acid all over my face/arms. Suckz.

Today I got lunch at Elmo with Chris who just spent like...a lot of months in Egypt which is so awesome. I really want to go to Egypt. He's leaving for Switzerland in a few days...which is also awesome and I am totally jealous. I had the best grilled cheese too. Then Caitlin and I went to Shake Shack and I had the most delicious frozen custard flavored Coffee and Donuts. So good! Went back to Jack's and hung out for a bit, watched it rain, then took Cheers to Penn Station. The cabbie spent the entire 45 minute drive talking to me about his ridiculous love life.

I also accidently stole hand sanitizer from CVS and I feel terrible about it.

Shoot to Thrill was totally awesome. Thanks to everyone who came out, it meant so much! I'd never seen my photos so big so it was super exciting to have them out like that. Thanks to AdoramaPix, MHOW, Northside Festival, L Magazine, and of course BrooklynVegan.com for the experience! I may have even sold a print which is great.

I think today is the last day to check it out, so if you're in the area PLEASE GO!

Yesterday was interesting. Went to the Solar One show (but it rained?) then headed off to Market Hotel for an interview/photo shoot with The Coathangers for 'Sup Mag. Super sweet and adorable girls that put on a great show (I still love the song "Don't Touch My Shit"). I haven't seen them in a super long time (not since Maxwell's one or two years ago?). Definitely have improved and it was sweet seeing the new art at Market Hotel. Fiasco were great, as always and I was psyched to discover The Strange Boys. Wow! So good! I left before Mika Miko because I wasn't feeling very well (shit happens) but I'm sure they were good too...

Got some photos developed...mostly are of my sister falling asleep on my floor. She woke up to me taking photos of her and yelled, "YOU ARE SUCH A CREEP!"

THE MUMMIES WERE AWESOME. SO GOOD. The only bad thing that happened was when this one douche kept crowd surfing every three fucking seconds and got my hair tangled in his belt, ripped out a nice chunk of my hair, and then proceeded to fall on my camera and break my flash. Kind of annoying, but it did not sour the mood. They played such a good set, perfect amount of time, perfect amount of keyboard harassing moments too. Damon and I got T-shirts and singles. Got one for Caitlin too!

Tomorrow is the opening of SHOOT TO THRILL (I hope to see some of you there, whoever you may be!), lots of friends and family are coming. I'm pretty excited. Then Saturday is that Solar Powered Festival thing on the East River @ 23rd st. The Mighty Handful, Starscream, Whiskey Crusaders and a lot more are playing, it's going to be great. THEN! Mika Miko + The Coathangers + Fiasco @ Market Hotel later that night. Sunday we're celebrating a certain friend's birthday (it's a surprise so I hope he doesn't read this). Trying to decide if I want to go to the shore or not this week. We'll see!

Friday will probably be my last day of High School ever. So weird to even think about that. Everyone around me has already graduated and I'm not graduating until June 26th. Too far away. I have my last high school exams tomorrow: French, Economics. Then in two weeks I have my Physics regents, which I will totally fail but it's okay because I do not need to pass it to pass the class...so I will graduate regardless. Nice.

I don't know who is speaking at my graduation but I am praying it's not someone who sucks and bores me to death. I will have to sit there for hours and I do not want some politician going on and on forever about nothing. I wish my speaker was Eugene Mirman. Look at this video and I dare you to disagree!

Today I had the worst coughing attack ever on the front steps of my school. I think I scared everyone but I was okay. Pam took Grace, Stelle, and me to dinner in Suffern. Hacienda is such a delicious restaurant. Grace continued to eat throughout the night. I wish I could do that. Oh well. Watching Good Eats now and about to review for my French final because the review sheet is actually the same exact thing as the exam. Nice.

BrooklynVegan.com is having its first concert photography showcase this weekend during the Northside Festival in Brooklyn. There are 7 photographers (including myself) showcasing some photos they've shot for BV.

in other news, I went to a third doctor today. She gave me the NEBULIZER and all these different medications and I already feel x100 better than earlier today. Love it.

-Caitlin is going from Sweden to Norway today. Ahhh!

I know there were more but I totally forget now. Oh well. I'm NOT going to study for my French final that is tomorrow because I DO NOT have to do well. Yes!

Stuck in Tuxedo

Hey all,

So I've spent the entire week so far in Tuxedo (this is a very rare occurrence) and am surprisingly not that bored. I've met up with Grace who I haven't seen in forever (we got to catch up almost completely), I went and ate delicious food at the club (their chicken fingers will always be the best), explored Sugarloaf (but everything was closed so we're going back soon) with Caitlin and Stelle (and passed thru the Bruderhof, which was sort of eerie), and started to organize all my magazines.

Caitlin is currently in Sweden. On tour with Bruce Springsteen. That's basically all that needs to be said about that.

Tonight was the *awards ceremony* at my school. I got the highest grade in my Government/Economics class which was awesome and I got an award for French. Cool.

Also decided that when Caitlin comes back we're going to go to Storm King. I haven't been there since the second grade and I remember loving it. Especially Peach Boy because you could actually climb on it. I want to take the Hasselblad there so badly! Hopefully I will still have it by then.

On Friday I will go back to TPS (my elementary - middle school) to recieve my 8th grade diploma with Grace. That will be interesting to say the least. I haven't been up there in forever (and it's only 5 minutes away). Jack graduates on Friday too, and then it's HILLSTOCK:

I can't really like, write about prom without it being totally boring/sounding like every other prom there ever was on the entire planet, but I will write this:
- Pre-prom at Julia's was the best, especially because of all those delicious appetizers...mmm!
- Ollie and I were obviously the best dressed (both decked out in sequins. is there really any other way to do it? no).
- The party after prom was sort of weird and I had to listen to terrible stories that made me want to kill myself

ex. conversation between two completely wasted girls:
Girl #1: oh my godddd there is a cap on your BOTTLE!!
Girl #2: oh my godddd what the eff!!

same girls, later that night:
Girl #1: oh my god that lightbulb is ON!
Girl #2: oh my god reeeaaally?!

Then later that night one of them fell down the stairs so it was okay.

After that Alex, Claire, Jack and I went to Daisy's and had some food. We were going to go to "AFTER PROM" (you had to pay $20 and it started at 2:30 am, I don't get it?) but Jack and I were so not up for it and went back to Julia's instead. I had a cough-attack and fell asleep (apparently a fine idea since it was a guido dance party). Woke up and saw UP with Jonathan, Julia, Claire, Alex, Aaron, and Jack. It was amazing. Julia and I cried the entire time pretty much. Pixar never fails to take me on an emotional rollarcoaster. Went to Oshima and now I am home for the weekend.

I have asthmatic bronchitis!

I'm on antibiotics, cortisone, and have a super new red inhaler. SWEET. I'm going to be the cutest girl at the prom tomorrow puffin' it up every 4 hours.

Went to lunch with Sam at this Japanese food place, it was delicious (except I completely burnt my mouth)! When I got home I legit could not breathe at all and started freaking out/crying. I really thought I was going to die. After that I sat in the steam shower for about 30 minutes and it was wonderful.

Watched Seinfeld and House, drank a lot of tea and now I'm about to watch some shows on my computer because I am too lazy to go into the living room, which is downstairs (that would require me to walk, therefore exerting myself, therefore making my bronchi tighten up again, no thnx).

FIRST

I've had a blogspot blog for awhile but never actually did anything with it (except for project iris). I'm super bored so I decided to use it. This probably won't last very long but whatevz (I have this blog too: http://www.leiaj.typepad.com but I haven't updated since last year I think. I don't know what the point of using this blog is if I already have one, but again...whatevz don't care).

Life as of now:
- Currently having trouble breathing due to allergies (I feel like I have asthma).
- Currently watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
- Currently dreading school tomorrow.
- Currently looking for apartments with Caitlin to move into July 1st.
- Currently giving Wavves another listen (because the first time I didn't like it, but now I think I do).

Saw JEFF the Brotherhood, Turbo Fruits, Boogie Boarder, Grocery Thief and Broccoli Destroyer last night at DBA (photos up on http://www.brooklynvegan.com soon). I love the way DBA looks now, so much better than before! The show was awesome, Caitlin and I got back to Park Slope around 2. I took a shower, went to bed for 3 hours, dreamt about beards (I don't remember in what context, but I just remember thinking of beards), then woke up at 5:30 to catch a train so I could go to school (and so Caitlin could get to work on time).

I decided to take the train home from Hoboken because I had an hour to kill, sat across from this woman at the train station with her shoe off and she pretty much had the grossest looking foot I have ever seen in my entire life. I will spare you the gruesome details. Almost vommed, so I waited outside. Fell asleep on the train, got off the train, decided not to go to school after all and then slept all day. Worked on photos from the show last night, sent them off, and ate crackers + Emergen-C. Life is GOOD (despite the fact I am still in high school and everyone else is not).
